Possibly the oldest age-stated bourbon ever bottled, Jefferson’s Presidential Select 30 year old comes from barrels selected by Trey Zoeller in the late 1990s, long before the craze for well-aged American whiskey got started in the United States. After Zoeller heard about rising prices for older Scotch whiskey, he predicted the same would happen to American bourbon and rye, and started buying barrels around Kentucky. He was right, and in the 2000s he began bottling his whiskey at 17, 18, and eventually 30 years old. The source is a highly guarded secret, and it may in fact come from multiple Kentucky distilleries. Regardless, the whiskey inside is legendary.
