Outlined in underglaze blue and embellished with green leaves and floral pops of iron-red and yellow enamel, these characterful dishes exemplify the doucai technique of the early Qing dynasty. With double-chrysanthemum roundels separated by stylised lotus scrolls, this delightful pair highlights the refined aesthetic typical of the Yongzheng Emperor’s reign.

A dish of identical design is illustrated in Yeh Pei-Lang, Beauty of Ceramics, vol. 6: Gems of the Doucai, Taipei, 1993, pl. 80, right. Another identical dish, of Yongzheng mark and period, was sold in these rooms, 6th April 2016, lot 3623.
