This original painting is acrylic on artboard. Michael Stringer had a career spanning five decades, and in 1974 was elected president of the Guild of Film Art Directors (now known as the British Film Designers Guild).

This 1972 British musical was based on two of Lewis Carroll's books - Alice's Adventures in Wonderland (1865) and Through the Looking-Glass (1871) . It was directed by William Sterling, with the musical score by John Barry and lyrics by Don Black. The film stars a distinguished group of actors, including Fiona Fullerton as Alice, Michael Crawford as the White Rabbit, Peter Sellers as the March Hare, and Dudley Moore as the Dormouse.
