Description

Gold, Silver, Enamel and Diamond 'Cross' Pendant

Designed as a stylized cross with open-work accents, applied with blue, red and green enamel, decorated throughout with foliate motifs set with numerous rose and old mine-cut diamonds; late 19th century.

Attributed to Comte Enguerrand du Suau del al Croix (Born 13 October 1840-died 19 March 1914, in Paris) who perfected the technique of cabochon enamel in high relief.  The Musee d’Orsay acquired the complete archive of Suau de la Croix in 2012 and a number of pieces by him are now on display at the museum.  In the Paris Salon of 1903-1908 his work was also exhibited.
