Description

Attributed to Alfredo Ravasco. The carved jasper boat with a hinged rose-cut diamond tiller, atop the blue lace agate carved waves, the base engraved to depict sea creatures and coral.

  • Measuring approximately 62 x 49mm.

Alfredo Ravasco, one of the few Italian craftsman to exhibit in Paris at the 1925 Exposition Internationale des Art Decoratifs, created fantastical objet d'art with unexpected gem-set accents, using the natural banding of the hardstone material to it's full effect, as seen here with the agate waves breaking around the base of the boat, cast out to sea.
