Given by Dr. William Bacon Pettus (1880-1959) to Dr. Hans Nordewin von Koerber (1896-1979) in 1936. 
Collection of Earle Joshua Stone (1919-1994).
Dr. Pettus was the President of the College of Chinese Studies at the American School, Peking, 1916-1945. Dr. Koerber was a Tibetologist and linguist, who was a Professor of Asiatic Studies at the University of Southern California, 1928-1930s, and Curator of Asian Arts at the Los Angeles Museum of Science, History, and Art, 1930-1947.
