Roberto Gammone was born in 1979 in Rome, Italy. His artistic career begins in an artistic duo creating works mainly for site-specific installations but also gallery style paintings which were displayed in many important exhibitions in Italy, Belgium, Germany, Austria, Slovenia, and Holland. He appears in many articles in important magazines including Flash Art Italia and Tema Celeste Art Magazine.

During this earlier period of his career his most notable exhibitions were at Rome (IT), Napoleonic Museum, Gemine Muse-Le Jeu D'Hombre Lo sviluppo delle virtù cortesi, April 21- June 20, 2007 ; Rome (IT), Hendrik Christian Andersen Museum, L'utopia Praticabile, June 25 - July 9 2007, presentation MAXXI The National Museum of XXI Century, Rome, June 25, 2007; Ancona (IT) Mole Vanvitelliana, Arrivi e Partenze Italia, February 15 - March 30, 2008; Buttrio (IT), SPAC Space for Contemporary Art, Contro Ignoti, March 1 - March 31, 2008; Aalst (BE) Netwerk Center for Contemporary Art, Cabinet of Imagination, curated by Lorenzo Benedetti, April 27 - June 7, 2008;

Subsequently he began to work exclusively on painting, especially portraits, immediately becoming part of important private and public collections. His portraits are technically brilliant, as brilliant as those that came out of workshops centuries ago, but they concisely and cleverly capture our own contemporary age. The sheer beauty of his painting makes his subjects seem somehow glamorous, important, and indelible.

His works have been exhibited in numerous galleries and museums since, most recently: Lecce (IT), Castromediano Museum, Giorgio Castriota Scanderbeg-Un eroe albanese in Puglia, Dic 20 - Feb 3, 2019; Amsterdam (NL), Rijksmuseum, Lang Leve Rembrandt, curated by Pieter Roelofs, July 15 - Sept 15, 2019; Edimburg (UK), Royal Scottish Academy, RSA Annual Exhibition, April 3 - May 30, 2021; London, Mall Galleries, 130th Royal Society of Portrait Painters Annual Exhibition, May 6 - May 15 2021; and Imola (IT), Palazzo Vescovile, Roberto Gammone-Un Erbario Simbolico, Solo Show, Sept 10, Nov 27, 2022, among others.
