A white jade disc, huan, Western Han dynasty | 西漢 勾雲紋白玉環

See a Han-dynasty jade ring with similar cloud pattern in low relief in the Xianyang Museum, published in Shaanxi Chutu Handai Yuqi [Han Dynasty Jades Unearthed in Shaanxi], Beijing, 2009, pl. 99. Jade rings with such cloud scroll patterns emerged in the Eastern Zhou dynasty, see one jade ring exhibited at the British Museum, illustrated in Jessica Rawson, Chinese Jade from the Neolithic to the Qing, London, 1995, p. 264, pl. 17:2. Compare also a related ring dated to the mid-Warring States period in the National Museum of China, illustrated in Zhongguo gudai yuqi yishu [Art of jade in ancient China], Beijing, 2011, p. 116.

青玉透黃，環外緣及內緣收成薄口，環身緩凸飽滿，其上陰線砣刻勾雲紋兩層，打磨光潔如鏡。 

此類勾雲紋玉環又有凸起浮雕者，如咸陽市博物館藏一件漢代玉環，惟雲紋為單層，見《陝西出土漢代玉器》，北京，2009年，圖版99。勾雲紋玉環東周已有所見，比較大英博物館曾展出一件東周勾雲紋環，見Jessica Rawson著，《Chinese Jade from the Neolithic to the Qing》，倫敦，1995，頁264，圖版17:2。又可比較中國國家博物館藏一件戰國中期勾雲紋瑗，雙層勾雲紋，見《中國古代玉器藝術》，北京，2011年，頁116。
