Western Zhou-dynasty ‘bird’ ornament of this type are often very thin, see a pair of jade birds excavated from the tomb of the State of Yu (弓魚) of the Western Zhou dynasty, published in Yuguo Jade Wares, Beijing, 2010, p. 34. 二者皆片狀，較小者玉鳥屬西周風格，以小砣琢磨而成，鳥昂首而立，較大者虎形珮時代或為較晚，一面陰線描繪細部，一面無紋。 

此類西周鳥形飾多呈薄片狀，參考西周弓魚（一字）國墓出土之一對玉鳥，見《弓魚國玉器》，北京，2010年，頁34。中國社科院考古研究所藏三件西周玉鳥亦資參考，見楊伯達編，《中國玉器全集》，石家莊，2005年，卷2，編號254。
