Western Han dynasty

西漢 瓦溝紋玉劍璏一組三件

largest l. 8.2 cm

See two scabbard slides with similar patterns of the tile grooves excavated from the tomb of the early Western Han dynasty, now in the Shaanxi Academy of Archaeology, illustrated in Shaanxi Chutu Handai Yuqi [Han Dynasty Jades Unearthed in Shaanxi], Beijing, 2009, pls. 155 and 156. See also a Western Han-dynasty example with similar carvings, slightly shorter but related to the longest scabbard slide in the present lot, illustrated in Jessica Rawson, Chinese Jade from the Neolithic to the Qing, London, 1995, p. 253, pl. 21:13.

大英博物館亦藏一件與本組最長者類似之西漢瓦溝紋劍璏,稍短之,見Jessica Rawson著,《Chinese Jade from the Neolithic to the Qing》,倫敦,1995,頁253,圖版21:13。
