Cotton, Rubber, Synthetic

2001

The Nike Air Presto first debuted in 2000, designed by Tobie Hatfield, Kevin Hoffer, and Bob Mervar. The model introduced a revolutionary approach to sneaker design with its minimalist, sock-like fit and lightweight construction. Its distinctive TPU cage added stability, while the flexible outsole, with strategic grooves, promoted natural movement and traction.

Offered in this lot are two Nike Presto Faze samples from 2001, created to commemorate the ratification of the Vietnam and United States trade agreement. The sneakers feature a blue upper with a gold cage, a white midsole, and red accents throughout. Most notably, each pair incorporates the flags of the United States and Vietnam crossing poles, with “2001” embroidered beneath as a reference to the historic accord. Produced in minimal quantities, these pairs were made exclusively to mark the agreement and were never released to the public.
