The “Bombardment” chandelier is one of the more unique ceiling forms designed by Henningsen. With eighteen arms extending from its center, each forming a semi-circular arch, the suspended glass shades appear to be cradling from above. The present example exhibits a three-tier Cascade/Bombardment fitting eighteen 1/1 opal glass shades, bakelite socket holders, and antiqued metal components from 1936. Designed in 1933, this form remained in the Louis Poulsen catalog until the mid-1960s and was most popular in restaurants, meeting rooms and conference halls, large conference rooms and meeting halls. Smaller versions were also utilized in private dining tables and more intimate spaces.
