Two pairs of similar candelabra were sold Sotheby's London, A Mansion Overlooking a Royal Park, 28 April 2015, lot 64. Another example was sold by Lady Sarah Roubanis, Christie's London, 5 December 1974, lot 22, and a further pair was sold from the Hillingdon Collection, Christie's London, 29 June 1972, lot 60. Similar three-light candelabra mounts were also used on a pair of candelabra with Sèvres biscuit figures of c.1760 of The Young Supplicant and The Gardener after designs by Boucher, now in the Musée Nissim de Camondo, Paris (CAM 601.1, 601.2).
Sotheby’s Scientific Research department used noninvasive XRF for this lot to screen the green enamel for chromium, which was detected.
