finely painted at the center with four pairs of chinoiserie figures raised on Böttger-lustre and gilded brackets embellished with iron-red and puce scrollwork, within a gilded diaper border, the rim reserved with four landscape cartouches including a rare winter ice-skating scene, linked by gilded foliate scrollwork embellished with Böttger lustre, the reverse with scattered indianische Blumen sprigs, crossed swords mark in underglaze-blue, impressed Dreher's mark of four dots, incised numeral 3

The other dish which was included with the present example when sold at Doyle Galleries was later sold at Sotheby's London, April 15, 1997, lot 53. Two dishes of slightly smaller size (28 cm diameter) were in the Maurice de Rothschild Collection, his (anon.) sales, Christie's London, March 28 1977, lot 29, and October 17 1977 lot 28; a third dish of the same size was sold at Christie's London, June 28, 1982, lot 138 and was acquired by the Hoffmeisters, published in Dieter Hoffmeister, Meissener Porzellan des 18. Jahrhunderts, Katalog der Sammlung Hoffmeister, Hamburg, 1999, Band I, pp. 130-31, cat. no. 60, sold at Bonhams London, May 26, 2010, lot 48. Recorded dishes from this service vary in size from 18.3 cm to 44 cm. in diameter.
