Description

SUSPICION / SOUPCONS. Bernard Lancy, 1941.

Grande poster, linen backed, unframed: 63 x 47 in. (160 x 119 cm)

Bernard Lancy was a prolific creator of film posters, and designed the artwork for many notable French and foreign films. He brilliantly encapsulates the crux of the drama with his close-up portrait of Cary Grant's impassive face, and Joan Fontaine's doubting and fearful eyes.

Fewer than five known surviving examples.

Suspicion applies Alfred Hitchcock's characteristic motives of suspense and psychological tension to a deteriorating marriage. A series of bewildering events lead the wife, played by Joan Fontaine, to suspect that her husband, played by Cary Grant, is plotting to kill her.
