This exceptionally rare Swedish poster has only surfaced a few times.
This film was made near the end of Max Reinhardt's career, this glittering film production of Shakespeare's play is a lavish celebration of Reinhardt's visual style. Primarily a theatre director with an illustrious record in his native Europe, Reinhardt fled to the USA after the Nazis took power in Germany. Shortly after his arrival he directed his second stage production of A Midsummer Night's Dream (the first being in 1905 in Berlin), and the following year was invited to make this film version for Warner Bros.
