During May 1968, John Reader photographed Yoko Ono and John Lennon extensively for a LIFE magazine feature. Ostensibly, it was to be a story on Yoko as an artist, but the real interest was in her relationship with John.
It was a difficult time for the couple - the media was awash with stories alleging Yoko had stolen John from the Beatles and blaming her for the breaking up of the group.
Ringo had lent the couple his flat but the press had got hold of that address and they were obliged to move on. Hence the plaintive P.S. ending John’s personal note of thanks for an album of images from the assignment. A photograph of this note accompanies the set.
Dear John,
Please use the photos
when you get a chance – we
liked them very much
Love
John and Yoko
P.S. We don't live anywhere

But call Peter Brown at Apple
