The finely carved and gilded wood cover of a Tibetan manuscript, depicting Prajnaparamita at centre, Vairochana to the left and Shakyamuni Buddha to the right, each seated on a lion throne with an arch (torana) behind with mythical animals, with Garuda at the apex of the central shrine of Prajnaparamita, and the Face of Glory (kirtimukha) above Vairochana and Shakyamuni: the back of the cover with fragmentary painted geometric jewel and scroll designs commonly associated with early Tibetan book covers, such as the ca. 13th century example in S. Kossak and J. Casey Singer, Sacred Visions: Early Paintings from Central Tibet, New York, 1998, p. 13.
