The Grand Lange 1 Moon Phase “Lumen” is the first A. Lange & Söhne timepiece to feature both a luminous moon-phase display and a luminous outsize date. The lunar disc is crafted from specially coated glass, into which 1,164 stars and a moon are meticulously laser-cut. When charged, the luminous compound beneath the disc allows the celestial display to glow beautifully in the dark. Once accurately set, the moon-phase requires adjustment by just one day every 122.6 years, a testament to Lange’s technical precision.
The partially openworked dial reveals key elements of the movement beneath, while luminous hands and appliqués for the time and power reserve indications enhance legibility and add to the watch’s captivating visual presence.
