Vessels of this type were known to have been produced in the early 20th century by the renowned bronze workshop of Zhou Meigu (1882 - 1951) from the Suzhou region. Beginning with epigraphy training at a young age, Zhou established his workshop in the early 20th century, specialising in replicating and redecorating ancient bronzes. He eventually became one of the most celebrated for the similarity of his works to authentic pieces.
