Cornelia Eliza Morse (Raymond) was born on January 1, 1820 in Eaton, New York. She married John Howard Raymond in 1840 and the couple had three daughters and two sons. During their marriage, John served as the first president of the Polytechnic Institute of New York University and the second president of Vassar College. He was regarded as a moral and intellectual guiding light who played a pivotal role in the early founding of these institutions. Cornelia passed away on February 1, 1905 in Brooklyn.
