[GEMINI 5]
CHARLES "PETE" CONRAD AND GORDON COOPER DURING PRE-FLIGHT PREPARATIONS. CA AUGUST 1965.
Vintage silver gelatin print, image taken by Bill Taub, 13 3/4 by 10 3/4 inches, mounted on matboard; some toning to mat, minor chips to margins.
Gemini 5, crewed by Conrad Cooper, was 7 days, 22 hours, 55 minutes, and 14 seconds in length, and marked the first time an American-manned space mission held the world record for duration. This was set on 26 August 1965, by breaking the Soviet Union's previous record set by Vostok 5 in 1963.
