The present image depicts Lunar Module Pilot Harrison Schmitt seated in the Lunar Rover at Station 9 (Van Serg Crater), during the third Apollo 17 EVA at the Taurus-Littrow landing site. Schmitt, a trained geologist, was the first member of NASA's inaugural scientist-astronaut group to fly in space.
