The Lunar Module "Spider," still attached to the Saturn V third state, here photographed from the Command Module "Gumdrop" on the first day of Apollo 9's earth-orbital mission. Inside the Gumdrop were Commander James McDivitt, Command Module Pilot David Scott, and Lunar Module Pilot Rusty Schweickart.
