Vintage NASA “Red Number” chromogenic color photograph, 10 by 8 inches, “This Paper Manufactured by Kodak” watermark to verso. NASA image ID “S80-36190” printed in center of upper margin in red; toning, tape to verso.
Space Shuttle Enterprise was the first orbiter of the Space Shuttle system. First rolled out on 17 September 1976, it was built for NASA as part of the Space Shuttle program to perform atmospheric test flights after being launched from a modified Boeing 747. Constructed without engines or a functional heat shield, it was not capable of spaceflight.
