"As I observed the wooden grains on the skateboard, images of mist, clouds, mountains and water began to emerge, and these are features I wanted to preserve in this work. Hong Kong was once a fishing port, so I added an iconic sailboat within the water and clouds formed by the wood grain. The holes on the skateboard were also considered in the composition." - Lee Chi Ching

Comic artist and painter Lee Chi Ching is the vice-chairman of the Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan Artists Association. Winner of the 2007 Gold Award at the International Manga Award in Japan, Lee began his career in comics in 1981. In 1990s, he collaborated with Japanese publishers to release literary classics such as The Three Kingdoms and Sun Zi's Tactics. In 1997, Lee and the late Jin Yong (Louis Cha) jointly formed a publishing house to release comic versions of Jin Yong's popular novels The Legend of the Condor Heroes and The Smiling, Proud Wanderer. He also created the cover art for the Japanese versions of Jin Yong's novels. He was also the curator for the 2017 special exhibition on Jin Yong at the Hong Kong Heritage Museum. He also created the Jin Yong stamps released by the Hongkong Post in 2018. Lee has dedicated the past decade in artistic creativity, and many of his works are held in museum collections as well as private collections.
