The English Bible containing the Old Testament & the New translated out of the original tongues by the special command of His Majesty King James the First. Hammersmith: The Doves Press [printed by T.J. Cobden-Sanderson and Emery Walker], 1903-1905


5 volumes, 4to (336 x 235mm.), title-page printed in black and red, woodcut initials after Edward Johnston, original limp vellum by the Doves Bindery, flat spines gilt-lettered, some foxing to the early pages of volumes 1 and 2, very occasional minor foxing


The most important book produced by the Doves Press. Founded by T.J. Cobden-Sanderson in partnership with Emery Walker in 1900, the Doves Press became renowned for its beautifully cut typography and elegant layouts
