FIRST EDITION, folio (344 x 228 mm) Engraved title-page, letterpress title-page, woodcut headpieces and initials, letterpress table, four double-page maps, contemporary calf with border in blind, occasional small marginal tears, damp staining to fore-edge and head, mostly marginal, four double-page maps cut close, maps of Asia and America slightly shaved at foot, final leaf soiled, rebacked, edges repaired


Peter Heylyn (1599-1662) was a clergyman and lecturer on historical geography. The Cosmographie is an expansion of his earlier work Microcosmos, first published in 1620.
