現藏者在上世紀七十年代末因工作關係，頻繁往訪中國。雖為外籍人士，惟雅好中國藝術，乘絡繹於京滬蘇寧之便參觀展覽、搜購書畫，以近現代名家作品為主，無拘名氣，純以個人興趣及品味作入藏準則，積累極豐。攜返美國後漸次釋出。
