Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden (gift of the Joseph H. Hirshhorn Foundation in 1974)

This work relates closely to a circa 1930 carved teak sculpture also titled Madame in the collection of the Portland Art Museum in Portland, Maine. Although the present sculpture is inscribed 1967, it was likely executed circa 1930.
