A settee of this model that formed part of the original collection of Percival D. Griffiths is illustrated in Herbert Cescinsky, English Furniture of the Eighteenth Century, London 1920, Vol.II, p.69 fig.67. The design appears to be inspired by a George II period example from the S. B. Joel Collection, published in Ralph Edwards, The Dictionary of English Furniture, Woodbridge 1954, Vol. III, p.83 fig. 30.
