The firm of Mack, Wiliams and Gibton was one of the most important cabinetmakers in Ireland in the late Georgian and Regency eras, producing fine cabinet pieces and tables with an emphasis on quality timber, particularly mahogany, and strong architectonic forms. John Mack is recorded at 108 and 188 Abbey Street from 1784-1803 and entered into partnership with Robert Gibton from 1804-11 at 39 Stafford Street, joined in 1812 by Robert William, the son of Robert Gibton, who died in the same year, and Zachariah Williams, to form the partnership Mack, Williams and Gibton. The company traded under this name at 39 Stafford Street until the death of John Mack in 1829, after which it continued as Williams and Gibton until Gibton's death in 1842.
