Patek Philippe’s lineage of automatic perpetual calendars started in 1962 with the legendary reference 3448. The iconic case design and its historic importance established itself as one of the most coveted vintage Patek Philippe wristwatches in history. With the successor reference 3450 adding the leap year indication, the overall aesthetics remain until 1985 when the Swiss maison released the reference 3940 with a brand new appeal. One of the most intricate wristwatches ever made, the perpetual calendar is legibly shown on the dial with a magnificent micro-rotor automatic movement calibre 240Q. Most importantly the calibre remains to be the heart of the present successor reference 5140. Housed in sleek white gold, the case diameter was enlarged to 37.2 mm which is the perfect dress watch size by modern standards. A sophisticated masterpiece, it is the go-to watch for everyday wear on any occasion.
