2 volumes, 8vo (212 x 126mm.), 23 engraved portraits including frontispieces of George III and General Gates, folding plan of Boston, sprinkled edges, contemporary calf, ink mark to the portrait of General Montgomery, occasional toning to text, some light offsetting of plates to text, volume 2 lacking terminal blank, boards scuffed, extremities rubbed, volume 1 upper hinge weak
The portraits depict many of the important military, naval, and political figures who figured prominently during the War for Independence (although those of the Americans are less than flattering likenesses).
