A gilt-copper alloy figure of Tara

Nepal, ca. 15th century


cast standing on a lotus base in slight abhanga, wearing a dothi secured at the waist beneath the navel, her bare torso adorned with bodhisattva jewellery embellished with hard stones, holding a spray of lotus in her left hand and a pearl in the right hand, her gentle face set in a benevolent expression, surmounted by a high crown and flanked by large ornamental earrings
