An ethereal palette of pastel pinks and purplish pinks makes this medley of diamonds an especially unique find. Colored diamonds are the rarest gems in the world — accounting for only 1 out of every 10,000 diamonds produced annually — and these particular shades are some of the most coveted. The group comprises a mix of cut-cornered rectangular brilliants, cushion-cut, heart- and pear-shaped stones; the diverse assortment of shapes has a modern, asymmetrical edge when grouped together in a single jewel. One way to highlight this set’s striking ombré of color would be setting the stones in a bracelet, framed with pavé-set white diamonds to make the delicate hues pop.

Sotheby’s commissioned the celebrated high-jeweler Édéenne to create an original design for the diamonds offered in this lot. Based in Paris’s Place Vendôme, home to some of the world’s most elite jewelry houses, Édéenne works with clients to craft one-of-a-kind jewels tailored to their personal style. She developed the design pictured here to highlight the unique qualities of these particular stones.
