An Egyptian Limestone Relief Fragment of an Owl

26th Dynasty/Ptolemaic Period, 664-30 B.C.


perhaps the Little Owl, also called the Owl of Athena (Athene noctua glaux), turned sharply toward the viewer, with small beak, large flaring nostrils, and intricate finely worked plumage, the flat back of the relief roughly worked.
