The Radiomir is the Panerai that was first introduced in the 1930s, and it featured lugs that are actual wires welded to the case. In the 1950s, Panerai introduced the Luminor case, that looked very similar to the present watch with a nice big crown. The PAM 399 is a tribute to the Radiomir’s and Luminor’s of the 1930s, 40’s and 50’s. Other outstanding features include the oversized 47mm case, Plexiglas crystal, the round, cambered bezel, the cylindrical crown and screw back.
The PAM 399 doesn't use an in-house PAM movement, but a movement from Minerva. Both the PAM 398 (Radiomir 1940 Oro Rosso) and PAM 399 (Radiomir 1940) are limited to 100 pieces each. It is interesting to note that the first 50 of each were sold as a pair in a box set together.
