Kiu Tai Yu’s watches largely embraced elements of Chinese horology, as the present “HK 2000” wristwatch features an array of hour marker fonts, with Chinese number characters, Arabic numerals and Roman numerals. Kiu’s watch designs were largely Chinese in style, in a vivid expression to ensure their appearance were recognised differently than those of traditional western horology. The HK 2000 was released as a limited edition of 20 pieces contains an automatic movement built with a visible escapement at twelve o’clock on a bi-colour black and gold dial, exposed and held together with 2 gold arms.
The Chinese text on the dial reads in seal script, "Celebrating the millennium, good fortune and prosperity." A marvelous timepiece, the present watch represents a piece of history from our local Hong Kong watchmaking.
