Description

MITCHELL & NESS, NBA HARDWOOD CLASSICS

Sotheby’s is proud to present this Ray Allen signed jersey.

Ray Allen began his NBA career with the Milwaukee Bucks after being selected 5th overall in the 1996 NBA Draft by the Minnesota Timberwolves and then immediately traded to the Bucks. During his seven seasons (1996–2003) in Milwaukee, Allen developed into one of the league’s premier shooting guards and three-point shooters. As a rookie, he made an immediate impact, averaging 13.4 points per game and earning a spot on the NBA All-Rookie Second Team. His scoring and shooting efficiency improved rapidly, and by the 1999-2000 season, he had established himself as the Bucks’ go-to scorer, averaging 22.1 points per game alongside Glenn Robinson and Sam Cassell.

Allen’s peak with Milwaukee came during the 2000-01 season when he led the team to a 52-30 record and their first Eastern Conference Finals appearance since 1986. That year, he earned his second All-Star selection and averaged 22.0 points per game in the regular season. In the 2001 Eastern Conference Finals against Allen Iverson’s Philadelphia 76ers, Allen elevated his game, putting up 26.6 points per game, including a legendary nine three-pointer performance in Game 6—a then-NBA playoff record.

Allen left Milwaukee as one of the franchise’s all-time greats, holding the record for most three-pointers made at the time. His smooth shooting stroke, leadership, and clutch performances played a crucial role in revitalizing the Bucks in the late ‘90s and early 2000s. Though his career would later include championships with the Boston Celtics and Miami Heat, his time in Milwaukee remains an integral part of his legacy.
