Launched in 2011 by F. P. Journe, the Octa Sport line originally featured cases crafted from ultra-light aluminum. The inspiration for this collection came from a prominent collector and avid sports enthusiast who actively participated in marathon and triathlon events. However, F.P. Journe only began to properly explore the split seconds complications during the Only Watch Charity Auction in November 2017. A few months later, an official production version was released as part of Journe's lineSport collection, available in titanium, pink gold, or—like the present example—platinum cases. The movements used in the platinum and pink gold versions followed Journe's traditional pink gold construction, while the titanium model incorporated a unique material for watchmaking: aluminum.

Inside this lineSport split second chronograph beats the remarkable mechanical calibre 1518, proudly visible through the sapphire case back. An evolution of the movement used in the original Only Watch unique piece, the calibre 1518 can be seen as an improved version of the previous calibre 1517. Crafted in 18K pink gold, the movement exhibits exceptional refinement to Journe's standards. All in all, the present timepiece is in every way excellent for all occasions.
