Thence by descent to their second son, Sir Thomas Bateson, 2nd Baronet and later 1st Baron Deramore of Belvoir (1819–1890) (according to a label on the reverse);
Probably by descent to his brother, George William Bateson, later Yarburgh-Bateson and 2nd Baron Deramore (1823–1893), Heslington Hall, North Yorkshire;
By descent in the family until probably on the art market in 1957 (according to a photograph in the Heinz Archive);
With Colnaghi, London, 1961;
Alma Holton, Toronto, by 1962;
Thence by descent to the present owner.
