EX LIBRIS RANDOLPH CHURCHILL AND SIR WINSTON CHURCHILL, 8vo, engraved frontispiece, 6 further engraved plates (groundplan and 5 numbered engraved views of the Blenheim estate), original quarter green morocco, grey boards, slightly stained and worn


This copy contains the bookplates of Sir Winston Churchill and his son Randolph Churchill, as well as an earlier inscription recording the gift of this volume ''from his Grace the Duke of Marlborough to EW Jun[io]r. 1st March 1830''.


Blenheim Palace was built by Sir John Vanbrugh for John Churchill, first Duke of Marlborough, as a gift of the nation for his great victories over Louis XIV. His descendant Sir Winston Churchill was born there in 1874.
