SPALDING, SPALDING BASKETBALL
2024
This ball was used by the New York Knicks and San Antonio Spurs on Christmas Day at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The Knicks beat the Spurs, 117-114.
This ball was used in the game when Victor Wembanyama made his Christmas Day debut. Wemby lit up Madison Square Garden with a jaw-dropping 42 points—the most ever scored by a visiting player on Christmas at the historic venue. He stuffed the stat sheet with 18 rebounds, 4 assists, and 4 blocks, though his San Antonio Spurs fell just short in a 117-114 thriller, overshadowed by a 41-point outburst from Mikal Bridges.
In doing so, Wembanyama carved his name into NBA history books. He became only the third player ever—joining legends Wilt Chamberlain (1959, 1961) and Nikola Jokić (2022)—to tally at least 40 points and 15 rebounds in a Christmas game. Wemby became the first player ever to score 40 or more points, grab over 15 rebounds, make at least 5 3-pointers, and record 4 blocks in a game. His 42 points also rank as the third-highest Christmas Day debut in league history, trailing only Chamberlain’s 45 and Tracy McGrady’s 43.
But all of this wasn't enough. The Knicks won the game with an impressive showing by Mikal Bridges who dropped 41 points alongside Karl-Anthony Towns and Jalen Brunson who scored 21 and 20 points, respectively.
