Two nearly identical pairs of obelisks were sold Sotheby's New York, 30 September 2005, lot 141, and 30 September 2004, lot 155.


The Italian designer Renzo Mongiardino (1916-1998) created some of the most important interiors of the postwar period, including those of Gianni Agnelli, Aristotle Onassis, Lee Radziwill, and Gianni Versace, and was also a set designer for film and opera.
