Born in Piedras Negras in northern Mexico, Purón is inspired by the region’s colorful natural landscape. His practice encompasses a range of painting styles including hard-edge abstraction, figuration, and expressionism. Camino y Canon Oaxaca #2 is based on the artist’s journey to Hierve el Agua, a waterfall-like set of rock formations on Oaxaca’s Sierra Mixe mountains. The red and blue pigments symbolize the dirt and sky, while the geometric style evokes the landscape’s natural sharp lines.
A portion of proceeds will benefit the artist.
