This Italian version first appeared in print in Milan in 1480 and was printed more frequently than the original Latin. It is now ascribed to Pseudo-Augustinus, as it is derived from rather than a direct translation of the Latin original. It is followed by part of the thirteenth-century devotional work by the Franciscan Jacopo da Milano, known in English as the Pricking of Love.
