folio (345 x 248mm.), title printed in red and black with woodcut of St Jerome and woodcut printer's device (repeated on final verso), woodcut illustrations (those opposite the start of Genesis and the New Testament full-page), incipit to Genesis and the Gospels printed in red, Eusebian canon tables printed in red, eighteenth-century Italian vellum, red edges, lacking n7 (containing text but no woodcuts), R6 (blank) and quires AA-CC (containing Interpretationes nominum hebraeorum), title-page restored at head, next few leaves with small paper repairs, occasional light soiling or staining, last few leaves with slight damage at head


This is a close reprint of the 1511 Giunta edition (see lot 46) with close copies of the Giunta woodcuts, some of which date back to the 1490 Malermi Bible. This is the first of the Sacon-Koberger illustrated Bibles which also served as a model for Holbein's later series of biblical woodcuts.
