Luka Doncic is popularly referred to as ‘Luka Magic’ for a reason. The 23-year old Slovenian has taken the NBA by storm since his debut in 2018. Doncic has continually demonstrated a unique ability to torch defenses with a combination of finesse, creativity, and instinct.
Now in his fifth season, Doncic is widely regarded as one of the best players in the league and a perennial MVP candidate. He has led the Dallas Mavericks to the playoffs the last three seasons including an appearance in the 2022 Western Conference Finals.
Sotheby’s is proud to present these sneakers worn by Luka Doncic during his rookie season on November 6, 2018 and December 28, 2018.
On the former date, Doncic and the Mavericks defeated the Washington Wizards 119-100. Doncic recorded 23 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 assists in the victory.
On the latter date, the Mavericks fell 114-112 to the New Orleans Pelicans. Despite the close loss, ‘Luka Magic’ recorded 34 points, including 7 3-pointers. It was the 3rd highest scoring output of Doncic’s rookie season.
The sneakers have been photomatched by Resolution Photomatching and are accompanied by a photomatch letter and graphics. A letter from James Spence Authentication regarding the signatures is also included.

Luka Doncic made his senior debut with Spanish club Real Madrid in 2015 at only 16 years of age. Before long he became the best player in Europe, leading Real Madrid to a EuroLeague title in 2018 and earning EuroLeague MVP honors.
The Dallas Mavericks traded for Doncic after he was selected with the 3rd overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft. Though some questioned if his game would translate to the NBA, Doncic left no doubt during an explosive rookie season that saw him average 21.2 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 6 assists and win the 2018-19 Rookie of the Year award.
He improved his production the next three seasons, all of which culminated in 1st Team All-NBA selections. In addition, Doncic made All-Star Game appearances in 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023. His incredible talent and poise as such a young player has put the entire league on notice for what is shaping up to be a legendary career.
