Going Deeper - Jrue Holiday

Jrue Holiday fit seamlessly into the Celtics’ system when he joined the team before the 2023–2024 season. Long regarded as one of the NBA’s premier perimeter defenders, his ability to take on the toughest assignments made him a matchup nightmare and a perfect complement to Boston’s roster. Holiday played a pivotal role in the Celtics’ run to the 2024 NBA Championship.

Originally drafted 17th overall by the Philadelphia 76ers in the 2009 NBA Draft, Holiday has built a career defined by consistency, defensive excellence, and leadership. He was instrumental in helping the Milwaukee Bucks win the 2021 NBA Championship, averaging 16.7 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 9.3 assists per game in the series.

At the time of cataloging, Holiday owns career averages of 15.8 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 6.2 assists per game. His accolades include two All-Star selections (2013, 2023), three All-Defensive First Team honors (2018, 2021, 2023), and three All-Defensive Second Team selections (2019, 2022, 2024). He also won the 2021 Sportsmanship Award. In 2024, Holiday captured his second NBA Championship with Boston and helped Team USA secure a gold medal at the Paris Olympics.

Now with the Portland Trail Blazers, Holiday will provide much needed veteran leadership on a young team looking to make it back to the playoffs.
